FLOAT REGULATIONS
STANDARD OF FLOAT DECORATION
- All floats must be decorated, in a theme acceptable to children & families. Floats that are not suitably decorated or in theme may risk refusal on the day.
- There are three prize Cups for the best three floats (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
- Pre Parade entertainment commences at 11am, the parade starts at 1.30pm
- Floats must not contain anything of a sensitive or offensive nature and must depict a theme suitable for young children.
- Please – NO SANTAS on floats – there is only one Santa in the parade – don’t spoil the highlight.
CONSTRUCTION OF FLOATS/FLOAT SAFETY
- Floats must be constructed with safety in mind. If you have people on board
- Maximum float width is 4.25 metres maximum float height is 2.5 metres.
- Nothing is to be thrown out from your float. This includes sweets, balloons and water (no water pistols).
- All props on board floats must be securely fastened.
- All parade entrants must comply with the Health and Safety Plan enclosed.
THE PARADE
- Your group will be issued with an arrival time at least one week prior to the parade. Please adhere to this time. Late assembly might mean refusal into the parade
- All parade participants will assemble in the Fencible Drive carpark – (see map)
- A map showing the assembly area and parade route is attached.
- Upon your arrival at the assembly area, a parade marshal will direct you into position
- IMPORTANT: A member of your group is then required to report to the registration desk which will be situated at the float assembly carpark no later than 1.30pm. They will be issued with a number which is to be displayed on the left side of your vehicle (passenger side) or carried by a member of a walking group. These numbers are for identification purposes only, and do not depict the order of the parade. If you group does not have a number, you cannot be included in the judging.
PARADE DEPARTURE
- The parade starts at 1.30pm sharp. Everyone must be assembled and ready to depart at at the latest by 1.10pm Please instruct your drivers to be seated in the vehicle by 1.15pm.
- Please instruct your driver to drive at a slow, walking pace throughout the parade. Should a large gap open up between you and the group in front, please pick up the pace slightly.
END OF PARADE
- All participants are required to stay in the precession until the dispersal point in Cook Street.
- A parade marshall will direct traffic at this point.
- Vehicles will be instructed to disperse from this point and leave the area to avoid congestion.
