URGENT ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION
The iconic Howick Santa Parade is on the 10th December 2023.
There will be several road closures, detours & parking restrictions in place for the duration of the morning until approx 5.30pm.
The celebrations will be starting on Picton Street, Moore Street and Uxbridge Road from 11am – 1pm. The Parade is on from 1.30 – 2.30pm.
Please read below to see where you live and how this will be affected.
Road Closure Map
ABERCROMBIE ST
Your street is a main detour for traffic entering Howick on Parade Day, and in the past this has caused considerable congestion with traffic trying to go both ways. To help ease congestion we will be placing NO PARKING SIGNS on both sides of Abercrombie Street from approx. 6am. This will allow traffic to flow more smoothly both ways. Please do NOT park on the street after 6am
COOK STREET
Your part of Cook Street will be closed to traffic from 11am but residents will have access in and out of the street up until 1pm sharp. You will need to inform the Marshals that you are a resident. There will also be NO PARKING SIGNS on both sides of Cook Street from the Picton St roundabout up to Abercrombie Street. We ask that residents do not park vehicles in the street from 6am on the day of the parade.
HOWE STREET
Between Wellington St & Moore Street
There will be several road closures, detours and parking restrictions in place for the duration of the morning and until approx 5.30pm.Your part of the street is a main detour for traffic entering Howick on Parade Day, and in the past this has caused considerable congestion with traffic trying to go both ways.To help ease this congestion we ask that residents in Howe Street between Wellington St and Moore St do not park their cars on the road from approx 10.00am. This will allow traffic to flow more smoothly both ways. Your road will not be closed.
MOORE STREET
There will be several road closures, detours and parking restrictions in place for the duration of the morning and until approx 5.30pm. Moore Street is a main detour for floats entering Fencible Drive on Parade Day, and in the past this has caused considerable congestion so to help ease this we are kindly ask residents not to park vehicles in the street from 10.00 am on the day of the parade.
WALTER MacDONALD ST
Access to Walter MacDonald Street will be limited at times during the day so please find enclosed two vehicle access passes. Please show these to the Marshals so you have access into and out of your street if need be before the parade starts.
WATERLOO ST
Waterloo Street is a main detour for traffic entering Howick on the Parade Day, and in the past this has caused considerable congestion with traffic trying to go both ways. To help ease congestion we will be placing NO PARKING SIGNS on both sides of Waterloo Street from approx 6am. This will allow traffic to flow more smoothly both ways. The road will not be closed.
WELLINGTON ST
Between Howe St & Fencible Drive (No Road Access Pass Needed)
This part of Wellington Street will not be closed to traffic. However there will be NO ACCESS to Picton & Fencible Drive from 9am until after the parade and crowds have been cleared from the area. We ask that residents DO NOT park vehicles in the street from 6am on the day of the parade
Between Waterloo Street & Howe St
This part of Wellington Street is one of the main access routes for our floats entering Howe Street, Moore Street and Fencible Drive before the parade, and in the past this has caused considerable congestion. To help ease the congestion we ask the residents to please not park their vehicles on the road in this part of Wellington Street from approx. 6am. This will allow traffic to flow smoothly.
Between Picton St & Fencible Drive
This part of Wellington Street is one of the main access routes for floats during the parade. You will have access in and out of Wellington Street before 1pm, But Wellington Street between Fencible Drive & Picton Street will be closed to all traffic from 1pm and the duration of the parade. Please show this letter to the Marshalls if you have any problems. We also ask that please DO NOT park vehicles in the street from 6am on the day of the parade.
